Wellness Gallery: 2nd Quarter 2003
Brian Westbury has been doing a wide range of photography for the past 15 years. Through those years he has met and photographed many interesting celebrities ranging from first lady Barbara Bush to Dr. Robert Ballard, the first to discover the Titanic. Brian is currently one of the photographers working for the Adventist Midwest Health. All of the children photographed in this display were born in one of the Adventist Midwest Health Hospitals. Brian describes his work as follows:
"As adults, we seem to forget the importance of these principles, though we stress their importance in the teachings to our children, we seem to miss out in the benefits that these concepts offer to us as adults.
"Working and playing with children is one of the most satisfying feeling in the world. Seeing the world through their eyes and watching them process the world as it comes to them is something to behold.
"My idea behind these eight photos was to illustrate that we, as a family, have an obligation to continue learning from one another. As adults, we don't know everything, and our children can readily teach us many things, which we may have forgotten:
- We need balance in our lives to do the things we enjoy
- A positive attitude helps us in times of strife
- Exercise helps keep the blood pumping
- Eating right helps us feel on top of the world
- Drinking water, we know the benefits
- Get outside; breathing pure air helps us with our own perspective
- Keep stress low, kind of obvious
- Spending time with God, you know how important that is to your own life
