Sleep Disorders
Do you have trouble falling asleep at night? Does your partner complain about your snoring? Do you often feel drowsy during the day? You may be suffering from chronic sleep disorder. And you're not alone. Over 40 million people in the U.S. experience some form of sleep disorder. But the good news is–once diagnosed, most of these problems are easily treated. If you think you are suffering from one of the conditions described below, consult your primary care physician for a referral, or contact the Sleep Disorder Center located at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital, and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital.
The Sleep Disorder Centers is among the very few in Illinois accredited by the American Sleep Disorder Association (ASDA). Patients referred to the Sleep Center will be evaluated by a certified Sleep Physician prior to undergoing a comprehensive set of evaluations. If a sleep study is recommended, you will spend one or two nights in a home-like bedroom setting where you will be monitored for several physiological responses, including heart rate, oxygen saturation, brain wave activity and limb movement, to name a few. You'll leave our Sleep Lab to resume your normal daytime schedule while the results of the study will be reviewed by physicians with special training in sleep medicine. They will then discuss their recommendations with your primary care physician, who will follow up with any necessary treatment or medication.
