Osteoporosis is a disease of the bone that is of special concern for women. Bone density slowly and silently deteriorates until bones are weak and brittle. Osteoporosis often goes undiagnosed until a fracture occurs. By then, the condition can be in its advanced stages.
Risk factors for osteoporosis including being female, early menopause, thin, small framed body and Asian or Caucasian descent.
Adventist GlenOaks Hospital encourages you to take control of your health and learn all you can about osteoporosis. This includes scheduling a bone density test. The test is quick, painless and non-invasive.
