Mental Health: Alternative to Suspension

All programs are taught by an experienced behavioral health professional from the GlenOaks Therapeutic Day School.

Aggression/Harassment/Bullying

This program uses visual, verbal, sensory, and written exercises that give students better ways to deal with their feelings of anger. It also encourages them to form more effective behavioral solutions.

The three-hour session will include:

  • Student participation agreement
  • What does anger mean to you?
  • Fighting feelings
  • Body language
  • Anger pyramids
  • Imaging
  • Relaxation
  • Empathy
  • Goal development
  • What is harassment?
  • Legal issues associated with harassment
  • Identifying underlying dynamics driving harassment
  • Identifying the impact harassment has on victims
  • Identifying alternative ways of expressing feelings

Drugs and Alcohol

This program will help students with decision-making skills regarding the use of substances.

The three-hour session will include:

  • Defining addiction
  • Self-assessment of risk factors
  • Signs and symptoms of use
  • Common risk factors
  • Consequence of use


Times for Students---4:30 to 7:30
Parent Sessions---6:30 to 7:30

Parents are required to attend the parent session
