Mental Health: Adolescent Programs @ GlenOaks

Adolescent Treatment Programs<Serving as the entry point to all Adventist GlenOaks Hospital Behavioral Health programs, the Assessment & Referral Department is available 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. The department also provides multiple services including:
  • Immediate assistance, including professional assessment of needs
  • Referrals to support groups, psychotherapists and substance abuse services in DuPage, Kane and Cook Counties

Inpatient Treatment
Teens who are experiencing serious difficulties with depression, impulse control, bipolar illness, attention deficit disorder, psychotic illness or other psychiatric symptoms may benefit from GlenOaks' comprehensive inpatient treatment programs. The goal is to rapidly stabilize the patient and identify the source of the problem. When appropriate, plans will be made to provide care in an outpatient setting.

Adolescent Day Hospital
This program provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to adolescents and their families with the goal of providing the optimum level of services to both educators and the community. Additionally, we provide a wide range of diagnostic services without removing the student from the home. Assessment and treatment plan are completed within five days.

  • psychological testing
  • educational testing
  • social/psychosocial history
  • nursing assessment
  • psychiatric evaluation
  • medication evaluation
  • substance abuse screening with drug testing
  • parent conference to discuss diagnostic evaluations and recommendations

Treatment modalities used include:

  • individual therapy
  • group therapy
  • substance abuse track when needed
  • music therapy
  • art therapy
  • recreation therapy
  • pet therapy
  • comprehensive school program with certified teachers
  • social skills group
  • life skills group
  • family therapy
  • parent support group
