Mental Health

Mental HealthThere was a time when it seemed proper to shield family members, or even rationalize their problems by sweeping these occurrences "under the rug." But we have come to recognize that, rather than protecting them, we were actually causing more harm than good by not seeking help.

Today, these behavioral problems are recognized for what they really are: medical problems that can be treated, just as we treat many other illnesses. At Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and Adventist GlenOaks Hospital, we have a number of formal programs that provide real help. Whether someone close to you has a mental or emotional problem, or a serious alcohol or drug dependency, all you have to do is acknowledge that this problem is real. Then ask us for help.

Assessment and Referral

The first thing we’ve done is to make it easier for you to get someone started on a program toward better mental health. There is no bad time to contact us. Our Assessment and Referral Department at Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week. And our professional staff is always on call, ready to provide immediate assistance. This includes professional assessment of an individual's needs; and referrals to medical doctors, psychotherapists, support groups and the full range of substance abuse services throughout DuPage, Kane and Cook Counties.
