Heart and Circulation: Rooney Heart Program
Heart disease is the number one killer in America, it is our number one priority. The Rooney Heart Program was established to address education, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of heart disease in the western suburbs. The Program brings together two of the premier cardiac programs in the area from Adventist Hinsdale Hospital and Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital which represent a broad and sophisticated scope of services and over 30 years of care to patients in the area. In 2002 and 2003 the hospitals were awarded 5 star ratings for cardiology services by Health Grades, given to only 15% of the cardiac programs across the country.
Rooney has a strong educational and preventive philosophy in keeping with the Adventist beliefs. We offer numerous educational and screening events which are taken advantage of by thousands of individuals each year. In addition, over 1,500 children take advantage of our Start with the Heart and Body Trek programs each year designed to educate grammar school children about diet, exercise, tobacco and other risks contributing to heart disease. We also offer high tech CT screening via our HeartScan program as well as individualized risk assessments through our HeartScore program.
