The Emergency Facility/Pediatrics/Trauma
State of the art diagnostic equipment is utilized to diagnosis and treat patients. Emergency Department Physicians are all board certified in emergency medicine. Registered nurses are trained in advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advance life support, Trauma Nursing Core Course, Trauma Nurse Specialist, Emergency Communications Registered Nurse, Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course, along with obtaining continuing education to maintain certifications.
This emergency department is certified as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatric care (EDAP) by the Illinois Department of Public Health And Emergency Services for Children. A designated Level II Trauma Center which has been certified by the Illinois Department of Public Health. At LMH, our philosophy, "Family Centered care in a high tech ED environment, "sets us apart from other area emergency departments.

Pain Management - "Ouchless ED"
Pain management is as important to us as it is to you. We have taken a proactive approach to pain management and will not let you suffer with pain. You will receive pain medication within 15 minutes of arrival to our emergency department.
Disaster and Bio-Terrorism Preparedness
Our staff is fully trained in decontamination techniques, mass casualty care, HEICS (national plan which utilizes a command centers that organizes the hospital during a disaster event), and prevention of the spread of communicable diseases (small pox, SARs, Monkey Pox, West Niles Virus, etc.). We have two shower systems and a cart system to decontaminate victims exposed to any biochemical warfare agent. We participate in two disaster drills per year to insure our community that we are prepared to take action should a disaster occur. We work in collaboration with Argonne National Laboratory, Fire Departments, Local & State Public Health Departments and the Red Cross to maintain our preparedness for any type of disaster.
