Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital Breaks Ground
Bolingbrook, IL - Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital breaks ground today as the first new hospital built in Illinois in more than 25 years. Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital will open in 2007, improving the healthcare access for tens of thousands of DuPage and Will County residents.

"Today is the culmination of a vision that began more than 20 years ago," said Ernie Sadau, President & CEO of Adventist Midwest Health. "We have made a commitment to this region and we are extraordinarily proud to be bringing quality healthcare closer to home for so many residents."

Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital is a member of Adventist Midwest Health (AMH), who has been operating the Adventist Bolingbrook Medical Center since 1981. AMH has a long history of service and involvement in the communities it serves. By partnering with physicians and the community, AMH promotes wellness and whole-person care.

The state-of-the-art, full-service Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital will be nearly 300,000 sq. ft. and at full operation, will employee 600 area residents. The hospital will feature 138 beds including 102 medical/surgical, 20 obstetrics, and 12 intensive care unit beds. Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital will be designated a Level II Trauma Center and will have, among other amenities, a Children's Health Center dedicated to the exclusive needs of pediatric patients.

"Bolingbrook and the surrounding communities are at the center of population growth in Will County and by and large, the residents are very young," explained Isaac Palmer, Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital CEO. "Meeting their needs by promoting wellness and providing whole-person care is our top priority."

Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital will incorporate the latest in healthcare technology. An electronic medical record system will provide nurses and doctors quicker access to medical records promoting system-wide consistency and efficient healthcare practices. Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital's PACS system will allow for digital radiology images to be available on the electronic medical record system improving access to patient information. Wireless access throughout the hospital will allow nurses to check and enter vitals with handheld devices and input patient information directly into the patients' records.

The all-private patient rooms will feature the latest amenities including a designated family zone, a flat screen TV, a DVD player, wireless internet access, and bedside nurse call button and room controls. An outdoor garden court for dining will be located next to the cafeteria to provide a medical-free zone for families and patients.

Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital's commitment to the community extents beyond standard medical services and will include community-wide wellness education services, free screenings and outreach programs.

"Bolingbrook itself has nearly 70,000 residents and is expected to grow to a population of approximately 85,000 over the next five years. Some of the surrounding communities in this service area are growing at a rate of about 33 percent," explained Roger Claar, Mayor of Bolingbrook. "There is no better location than Bolingbrook for this hospital and we are all extremely excited to realize this twenty-year vision."
