About Us: Quality Commitment
What is Quality?
Quality can be difficult to define. The best meal money can buy is lacking if it's served by a surly or even apathetic waiter. A product that passes every measurable standard but is not delivered on time doesn't meet consumers' needs.
Delivering Quality in the very personal area of health and life is an even more complex issue. As a hospital, we adhere strictly to certain procedures and guidelines, yet we're dealing with people, individuals who may be struggling with their injury or illness. If our staff fails to administer care that is compassionate as well as skilled and experienced, then we're not following our calling to heal.
The Adventist Midwest Health addresses Quality on several different levels. In addition to all mandatory licensing programs and the voluntary Joint commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, we adhere to self-imposed programs such as peer review committees. We also collect direct feedback from patients in the form of Patient Satisfaction surveys and focus groups that gather information on community needs. As part of a network of 36 hospitals, we gain the advantage of Adventist System resources and follow certain clinical and corporate initiatives that promote best practices.
Finally, all care is driven by our Mission Statement to "provide excellent healthcare in an atmosphere of loving concern according to the example of Christ's healing ministry and the principles of the Seventh-day Adventist Church."
In the future, the Adventist Midwest Health intends to use this area to present an overview of our Quality programs to help you make an informed about the physicians and facilities you select for your care. It will in no way be exhaustive-every department in each facility has stringent service standards, training and evaluation programs too lengthy to detail here. We are always happy to provide a tour of any of our facilities and/or answer your specific questions.
