When the sick and hurting sought help from Jesus, He never turned them away. We believe He expects the same from us today. Giving back to our community is both our mission and our responsibility as a not-for-profit organization.
Last year our hospitals returned a benefit of over $47 million back to the communities we serve. In addition, Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is the only hospital in DuPage County serving Medicaid patients in sufficient volume to be deemed by the State of Illinois as a "Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital." Hinsdale and GlenOaks Hospitals together serve more Medicaid patients than any other hospitals in the county.
Our community benefit contribution comes from the following areas:
- 100% of our net income (profit margin) are re-invested in equipment, plant and property improvement, working capital needs, and repayment of long-term debt;
- Support of non-billed services, such as clinical and primary care services, in-home services, health education, screenings, prevention and health promotion activities, support of services in community-based service organizations;
- Education and research activities, cash and in-kind donations;
- Unreimbursed costs for charity care, the uninsured, Medicare and Medicaid services.
