Community Benefit
Adventist Midwest Health grows from a healthcare philosophy that has roots more than 140 years strong. In the 1860s, the Seventh-day Adventist Church developed an innovative approach to human need that combined compassion, preventative care, treatments and therapies, and a firm belief in the guidance and healing power of the Creator.
Christ's ministry was the original model. His life of compassion-fueled action led to the establishment of a healing tradition carried on by His first disciples. His charge to heal the sick is the foundation of our mission.
As instituted by the Great Physician, this mission requires that thoughts and prayers be translated into action. He and His disciples didn't simply hope and wish. They acted, and their actions changed lives.
Our hospitals and healthcare centers are staffed with people who take initiative and action every day to carry forward the legacy of healing by living the mission and changing lives. When someone is in need, these are the ones who respond. When someone is in pain, they help. When someone is in trouble, they reach out. They're the first to listen, the first to comfort, the first to lend a hand.
Through the compassion and commitment of our teams of physicians and nurses, clinicians and support staff, the legacy of healing continues throughout the communities we serve.
