About Us: Vision Statement 2002-2006

Our Vision Statement

As the legacy of Adventist Midwest Health is described, it will be said that we engaged the hearts and minds, the energies and skills of our employees, physicians and other stakeholders in continuing the healing mission of Jesus Christ. In the modern health care system, this means delivering and managing care throughout the entire extended delivery system in a seamless and cost-effective manner.

We will accomplish this by: integrating and delivering care of exceptional quality; meeting customer needs; working as a team; continuously improving and learning; exercising the true spirit of stewardship over the assets entrusted to our care; and remaining faithful to the principles of the Seventh-day Adventist church.

We will be acknowledged as a place where Christian healing takes place. Recognizing this, the majority of our served population will choose Adventist Midwest Health facilities to serve their collective and individual needs. As we serve, we will do so in ways that ultimately produce a healthier, more vibrant community.

Finally, pursuing this vision to its realization requires us to do more than heal others. We will learn to heal ourselves, becoming in the process a self-renewing organization. We will seek opportunities and set aggressive stretch goals. We will constantly learn and improve. And, we will always maintain a sense of destiny, of delight in the journey and of wonder at the discoveries we make along the way.

Mission

We will operate as a full partner with other Adventist Health Services (AHS) organizations and the Seventh-day Adventist Church in carrying forward the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

We will be recognized internally and externally as a mission-driven organization, where the ambiance and spirit of our operations have a strong Christian emphasis. We will seek first to prevent sickness by focusing on prevention. We will enter into strong community partnerships, serving in such a manner that a sense of great loss would be felt if we were to leave the community. We will be recognized as a valuable organization that ministers to the community in a Christ-like, compassionate manner.

Market Opportunities/Business Portfolio/Growth

Patients will prefer Adventist Midwest Health facilities over other available options. Physicians will prefer to admit here and consider their relationship with us as a mutually beneficial partnership. Payers will prefer to create health benefit plans with our facilities involved as preferred providers. Other organizations will preferentially partner with us to better pursue opportunities and meet community needs.

We will pursue such new businesses and markets where we can demonstrate competence, expertise and quality service. Priorities for new business opportunities will be established consistent with mission and financial goals, and where we can contribute significantly to improving the life of the community.

Quality

We will meet the needs and exceed the expectations of those we serve by working together as a team in a culture devoted to continuous improvement.

Our operations will always meet or exceed the community's standard of care. Our quality and service will be rated in the top quartile of organizations within AHS and the industry. The SHARE program will be a vital force in realizing the vision of a workplace where quality, service and mission are deeply rooted in the culture of everything we do.

Human Resources

Candidates seeking employment and current employees will prefer to work at an Adventist Midwest Health facility exclusively.

Superior performance, quality and service will only be realized through highly competent, well-trained and well-motivated leaders and employees. The Adventist Midwest Health will reinforce its commitment to identifying and recruiting outstanding talent, developing that talent and creating and maintaining an outstanding workforce.

Operational Effectiveness

The health care industry will cite the Adventist Midwest Health as a model of quality, cost-effectiveness and value; other organizations will benchmark against us.

Challenging business conditions mandate aggressive management approaches and timetables. We will meet and exceed our marketplace's expectations in a Christian and business-like manner. We will improve quality, service and cost-effectiveness and, as we do, the value of our services will increase and be recognized by those we serve.

Financial Position

The Adventist Midwest Health will generate sufficient return to fund organizational renewal and development.
